JAMES THOMAS
James Dolenc and Tom Riker, founders of the Chicago-based interior design firm James Thomas, have been creating authentic, personalized spaces since launching their studio in 2003. Their mission is simple: to design bespoke interiors that are unapologetically sophisticated, inherently welcoming, and classically crafted. Over the past two decades, James and Tom have earned a reputation for creating homes and retreats that feel timeless, gracious, and quietly elegant - each a joyful backdrop for memories made and lives well lived. “It’s incredibly important to us that our clients love being at home,” James explains. “We take time to understand their passions and lifestyle so we can design spaces that are deeply personal. From there, we compose interiors that feel comfortable, inviting, and ideally, inspire a bit of fun. While our projects span a range of styles, our signature approach brings a sense of ease, refinement, and one-of-a-kind charm.”
James and Tom bring complementary strengths to their work: James is the storyteller, shaping the technical flow and architectural narrative of a space, while Tom is the editor, layering in refined details and distinctive elements that turn a house into a personal statement. “Our designs are built on depth,” Tom adds. “We achieve that through thoughtful layering - textures, patterns, and unexpected hits of saturated color.” Together with their tenured team of designers, architects, and support staff, James and Tom work with clients across Chicago and the North Shore, with projects from Beverly Hills to Palm Beach and New York City to Sun Valley. Their work has been featured in House Beautiful, Robb Report, Traditional Home, Homes & Gardens, Luxe, Mountain Living, Midwest Living, Cottage Style and the 2024 Gibbs Smith book, Alpine Style. They are also included in Rizzoli’s upcoming book, Interior Design Master Class: 100 Rooms.

TAMARA FELDMAN DESIGN
Born in Mexico City, Tamara Feldman was naturally influenced by its vibrant architecture, multifaceted culture, and deep-rooted history. In nearby Valle de Bravo, her mother built a home immersed into the landscape and its zero limits to creativity strongly informed her career path, while her artist grandmother, whose soulful paintings were defined by the way she masterfully captured intricate details like the delicate embroidery of a tablecloth, has had an equally profound impact. Art came very naturally to Tamara, a lifelong painter herself.
Today, that unique upbringing, combined with her time living and studying in Tokyo, shape all of Tamara’s work. Her interiors organically meld the structure and clean lines of Japanese design with the warmth and layers upon layers of natural materials that populate Mexican aesthetics.
At the helm of her own design studio since 2011, Tamara’s projects have been recognized by national and international publications. Collaborating with a wide range of residential and commercial clients, Tamara conceived a breathtaking aerie for one of Miami’s leading art collectors, and is currently at work on an exciting new commission within one of the city’s leading art institutions.
