SHOW HOUSE HISTORY

For more than half a century, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House has stood as one of the most celebrated and influential events in the world of interior design. Founded in 1973 by dedicated supporters of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, the Show House began as a creative way to raise essential funds for the Club’s after-school and enrichment programs serving young people throughout New York City.

Each year, the nation’s most acclaimed designers are invited to transform a distinguished Manhattan residence into a stunning showcase of imagination, craftsmanship, and innovation. What began as a single philanthropic project quickly became a cultural touchstone—drawing thousands of visitors, press, and design professionals from around the world. In the fall of 2025, the New York Show House proudly celebrated its 50th year, marking five decades of extraordinary design and community impact.

Recognizing the opportunity to extend its mission and influence, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched additional Show Houses beyond New York. The first expansion came in Palm Beach in 2017, where the area’s architectural beauty and vibrant design community made it a natural fit. Now a beloved annual tradition, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach recently celebrated its eighth year in 2025, benefiting both the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.

Building on that success, the Show House made its Texas debut in Dallas in 2020. Deep in the heart of a city known for its blend of sophistication, hospitality, and bold creativity, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas made an immediate impact. Now in its sixth year, the event has become a major design destination in the Southwest, with proceeds also supporting local children’s charities including Dwell with Dignity and The Crystal Charity Ball.

From New York to Palm Beach to Dallas, each Show House continues to embody the same purpose that inspired its founding over fifty years ago: celebrating exceptional design while empowering the next generation. Through creativity, collaboration, and compassion, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House continues to make a lasting impact—one room, one home, and one child at a time.
