DESIGN BY TULA

I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and began my career working with two of the most prestigious design houses in the industry. There, I was responsible for identifying emerging fashion and color trends each season and developing new product lines that reflected those insights.

Later, I moved to North Carolina and took on the role of New Products Design and Development Manager at Westwood Incorporated. I oversaw the coordination of product design, production, and technical operations, while also supporting sales efforts between the New York office and manufacturing facilities across the country.

After settling in North Carolina, I founded my own company, Design by Tula.

My work is grounded in a deep respect for tradition and history, combined with a strong appreciation for contemporary design. I love blending modern elements with classic forms, and I have a particular talent for incorporating unique objects from around the world into my designs.

A Houston native and University of Texas at Austin graduate, Fisher was teaching in Highland Park when she was discovered by a Dallas real estate agent who helped launch her design career. Now, Fisher’s portfolio spans Highland Park landmarks — which can be viewed on the Park Cities Preservation and Armstrong Bradfield Home Tours — as well as projects from Cape Cod, Mass. to Crested Butte, Co. SarahStacey_Day2_100275.jpg
Sarah Stacey Interior Design

Sarah Stacey partners with clients in the art of layering, bringing together pieces that feel both timeless and refreshingly new. With an eye for balance and contrast, she creates interiors that are soulful, expressive, and designed to be lived in.

Her earliest lessons in design came from time spent at antique auctions as a child in Louisiana.

Surrounded by the layered influences of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, she developed an early love of eclecticism and a bold approach to mixing styles. Travel later expanded that perspective, encouraging her to look beyond convention and shaping the foundation of Sarah Stacey Interior Design.

Sarah studied studio art and interior design at Louisiana State University and now leads her Austin and Nashville-based firm in projects that range from private homes to boutique hotels. Each project begins with listening closely to her clients and drawing out the individuality that makes a space truly theirs. The result is always personal, often surprising, and filled with warmth.

Her philosophy extends beyond furniture and finishes. A sofa becomes a place for family to gather, a dining table a place where connection happens, and an antique piece a touchstone that gives a home depth and character. From the first sketch to the final installation, every detail is approached with care and intention, creating interiors that invite comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging.

Sarah lives in Texas with her husband, a musician, and their son. Their colorful and creative life infuses her work with a spirit of curiosity and delight that clients feel the moment they step into a finished space.

Studio Eckström

About Studio Eckström

Studio Eckström is a Nebraska-based luxury interior design firm celebrated for crafting richly layered, deeply personal spaces that balance elegance with livability. Founded by Mark and Mikal Eckstrom, the studio evolved from an intimate side project designing homes for family and friends into a full-time pursuit of design excellence in 2022. Today, Studio Eckström is known for its sophisticated approach—rooted in artistry, history, and a discerning eye for detail.

Mark Eckstrom – Creative Director
Design has been in Mark’s DNA since birth—he jokes that he “came out of the womb knowing where to place an ottoman.” Raised in his mother’s interior design studio, Mark developed an intuitive understanding of proportion, texture, and flow. His formal path took a detour from architecture to journalism, earning a degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before spending two decades in New York City. There, he shaped culture and storytelling at Spin Magazine, worked alongside Quincy Jones to launch Vibe, and served as publisher of Out. Upon returning to Nebraska, Mark returned to his first love: interiors. His work blends restraint and exuberance in equal measure, with a signature mastery of color, pattern, and scale. Drawing on a profound knowledge of decorative arts and art history, Mark creates rooms that feel timeless yet utterly fresh.

Mikal Eckstrom, Ph.D. – Chief of Operations
Mikal brings a scholar’s precision and a storyteller’s soul to Studio Eckström. Holding a doctorate in history from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, he is a Ford Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities fellow whose work has been published in venues including The Wall Street Journal. At the studio, Mikal orchestrates the operational heartbeat—managing relationships with vendors, artisans, and global sourcing partners to ensure every detail meets the firm’s exacting standards. For Mikal, interior design is a form of narrative building: each space a carefully constructed story, told through texture, material, and form.

Together, Mark and Mikal lead Studio Eckström with a shared vision—to create homes that are as deeply rooted in personal history as they are in beauty and comfort, designed to be lived in, loved, and remembered.

Philip Thomas Vandetford_StudioThomasJames.jpg
Studio Thomas James

Philip Thomas Vanderford, principal and founder of Dallas-based Studio Thomas  James, has cultivated an internationally recognized portfolio of interiors—each one a  bespoke expression of its owner’s lifestyle, sensibilities, and ambitions. Eschewing the  constraints of a “signature look,” Vanderford and his team approach every commission  as a couture-level collaboration, resulting in spaces that feel profoundly personal yet  universally sophisticated.

As a graduate from the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of  Arkansas, Vanderford apprenticed with his grandfather—a master craftsman, machinist,  and woodworker—gaining an uncommon, tactile understanding of how enduring beauty

is made. This experience gave him a practical understanding of creating lasting beauty. This foundation is evident in the studio’s work: interiors that exude effortless calm while  revealing layers of artisanal detail, couture-level precision, and uncompromising  execution.

Studio Thomas James’ design philosophy has earned both regional and national  acclaim. The firm is a perennial fixture on D Home’s Best Designers list, and Vanderford  was named HGTV’s Designer of the Year in 2021. The studio’s projects have been  featured on the covers of Luxe Interiors + Design, DHome, and Modern Luxury Interiors,  and across Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Veranda, Martha Stewart,  Southern Living, Business of Home, and PaperCity, among others.

Recognized as a sought-after voice in the design world, Vanderford debuted at the  inaugural Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas in 2020 and later at Kips Bay Palm  Beach in 2023. In 2024, he created a showstopping tablescape for the New York  Botanical Garden’s Orchid Dinner at The Plaza—an event celebrated as one of the  design industry’s most distinguished evenings. In 2025, the studio’s work  was published in /be-spōk/: a philosophy of beauty, a luxury coffee table book  celebrating exquisitely curated spaces from around the world, and Vanderford was  appointed a Donghia ambassador. Most recently, Studio Thomas James was selected  to design a multi-million-dollar luxury residential collection in collaboration with SHM  Architects, set to debut in Dallas’ coveted Knox District.

Brought together by their shared passion for style and design, Mike and Bryan Yates married their talents and  personal visions and created a firm that captures the style and distinctive personalities of the people who  inhabit the spaces they bring to life. In doing so, the duo places a premium on the relationships between their  team members, partners, and clients, which are so integral to the success of each project.

In addition to the firm’s impressive portfolio of client work, the duo participated in the Kips Bay Decorator Show  House Dallas in 2021, launched its first wall-covering collection, “Ever x Yates,” in 2023, and continues to be  featured in national and regional media.
